Research Professor Hans P.A. Van Dongen, Ph.D. is Director of the Sleep and Performance Research Center at Washington State University Spokane. He is internationally known for his studies of trait inter-individual differences in vulnerability to fatigue, cumulative cognitive deficits following chronic sleep restriction, mathematical modeling of fatigue and performance, and fatigue risk management. With more than 100 publications on these and related topics, his work is frequently cited and widely utilized in laboratory and operational settings. He has been awarded research funding by the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, NASA, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Transportation Research Board, Regional Airline Association, Transport Canada, and several industry partners.
