As a clinical researcher, over the past 15 years I have conducted NIMH, NIDA and NIDRR funded clinical research in the area of behavioral and family based interventions for persons with chronic mental, addictive and brain disorders. Most of these intervention studies have taken place in community mental health or rehabilitation settings. My current research projects focus on schizophrenia, brain injury and dementia, examining both patient and family caregiver outcomes. The work on dementia is a collaboration with Maureen Schmitter-Edgecombe (Psychology) and is funded by a three-year grant from the Alzheimer’s Association.
